圆满举办|首届生命科学与能源材料创新国际研讨会(MILES2025)暨HKU-MILES成立一周年研讨会

2025年10月23日,由香港大学生命科学与能源材料创新研究院(HKU-MILES)主办的“首届生命科学与能源材料创新国际研讨会(MILES2025)暨HKU-MILES成立一周年研讨会”在深圳河套科创中心圆满举行。


On October 23, 2025, the 1st International Symposium on Materials Innovation for Life Sciences and Energy (MILES2025) & The HKU-MILES First Anniversary Symposium, hosted by Materials Innovation Institute for Life Sciences and Energy (HKU-MILES), was successfully held at Hetao Innovation Center in Shenzhen. 


本次研讨会汇聚了来自全球顶尖高校与研究机构的专家学者,围绕纳米技术、生物材料、可持续能源、柔性电子材料、癌症免疫治疗等前沿领域展开深入交流,展现了生命科学、能源技术与材料科学交叉融合的最新进展与未来潜力。


Many leading experts and scholars from worldwide top universities and research institutions gathered together and had in-depth communications on cutting-edge fields including nanotechnology, biomaterials, sustainable energy, flexible electronics, and cancer immunotherapy, presenting the latest progress and future potential of the interdisciplinary integration of life sciences, energy, and materials science.

会议于上午8:30在主题曲《MILES千万里》中正式拉开帷幕,随后MILES创院院长、著名学者戴宏杰院士致开幕辞并回顾MILES的建设与发展历程。戴院士指出:“我们已经走过了第一个里程碑,而我们将来还有很长的路要走。尽管如此,我认为迈出第一步是最重要的,而且我们已经做到了”。 


The conference officially commenced at 8:30 AM with the MILES Theme Song, followed by an opening address by Founding Director of MILES, renowned scholar Prof. Hongjie Dai, who reviewed the construction and development journey of MILES. Prof. Dai stated, “We have finished the first mile, and we still have a lot of miles to go. However, I believe taking the first step is the most important, and we have made it”.

致开幕辞后,MILES创院院长戴宏杰院士与MILES技术转化中心主任唐梅杰博士、MILES学术顾问委员会代表Paul S. Weiss院士和支志明院士、MILES决策委员会代表俞书宏院士、MILES院长办公室主任孙梦蝶女士一同切开一周年纪念蛋糕,完成周年庆祝仪式。


After the opening address, Prof. Hongjie Dai (Founding Dean of MILES), together with Dr. Meijie Tang (Director of MILES Technology Translation Center), Prof. Paul S. Weiss (MILES Advisory Board representative), Prof. Chi-Ming Che (MILES Advisory Board representative), and Prof. Shuhong Yu (MILES Decision Council representative), Ms. Mengdie Sun (Chief of MILES Director's Office), participated in a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony marking MILES’s first anniversary.

随后,多位MILES教授进行了科研项目介绍,展示了他们在生命科学与能源材料交叉领域的多项创新成果。


Subsequently, several MILES professors delivered project introductions, showcasing multiple innovative achievements in the interdisciplinary field of life sciences and energy materials.

在上午的主题报告中,加州大学洛杉矶分校的Paul S. Weiss院士分享了“纳米技术在生物技术、医学与可持续发展中的应用”,阐述了如何利用纳米尺度的精确操控来解决生物医学诊断、治疗及环境可持续性方面的重大挑战。中国科学院杭州医学研究所的谭蔚泓院士做了主题为“核酸适配体组学”的报告,系统介绍了核酸适配体在疾病诊断与靶向治疗中的创新应用与转化前景。轻松愉快的茶歇过后,香港理工大学的郑子剑教授在“可渗透电子皮肤”报告中介绍了其团队开发的兼具舒适性与高性能的柔性电子器件,及其在健康监测与人机交互中的应用。


In the morning speeches, Prof. Paul S. Weissfrom the University of California, Los Angeles presented on “Nanotechnology approaches for biotechnology, medicine, and sustainability,” explaining how precise manipulation at the nanoscale can address major challenges in biomedical diagnostics, therapy, and environmental sustainability. Prof. Weihong Tan from the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a report titled “Aptomics,” systematically introducing the innovative applications and translational prospects of nucleic acid aptamers in disease diagnosis and targeted therapy. After a pleasant tea break, Prof. Zijian Zheng from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, introduced his team’s achievement on flexible electronic devices combining comfort and high performance in his report “Permeable electronic skins,” with their applications in health monitoring and human-computer interaction.

下午的议程由南方科技大学俞书宏院士主题为“新兴仿生可持续结构材料”的报告继续展开。俞院士介绍了如何从自然界的精巧结构中汲取灵感,设计出可以人工合成的相似材料。香港城市大学的郭再萍院士在“金属离子电池的电极与电解质设计”报告中,详细阐述了其团队在提升锂离子电池、水系锌电池的能量密度、循环寿命与安全性方面的核心材料设计理念。南方科技大学徐强院士聚焦于“用于催化与能源的金属-有机框架材料工程”,展示了如何通过对MOF材料的改性与衍生获得一系列功能化材料。


The afternoon agenda continued with a speech by Prof. Shuhong Yu from the Southern University of Science and Technology titled “Emerging bio-inspired sustainable structural materials.” Prof. Yu discussed how to draw inspiration from nature’s intricate structures to design similar materials that can be synthesized artificially. Prof. Zaiping Guo from City University of Hong Kong, in her report on “Electrode and electrolyte design for metal-ion batteries,” elaborated on her team’s core material design concepts for enhancing the energy density, cycle life, and safety of lithium-ion batteries and aqueous zinc batteries. Prof. Qiang Xu from the Southern University of Science and Technology focused on “Engineering metal-organic frameworks for catalysis and energy,” demonstrating how a series of functionalized materials can be obtained through the modification and derivation of MOF materials.

茶歇之后,香港理工大学柴扬教授介绍了“用于人工视觉的仿生传感内计算”,为开发低功耗、高效率的下一代人工智能视觉系统提供了新路径。清华大学深圳国际研究生院刘碧录教授报告了“用于稳定高电流密度电催化的具有化学键合金属界面的二维材料同源金属异质结”,展示了一系列新型催化剂设计策略,以应对苛刻工业条件下高效电解水制氢的挑战。在香港城市大学于欣格教授的“用于医疗保健和VR/AR的皮肤接口电子设备”报告中,他呈现了多种可与人体皮肤舒适集成的柔性电子设备,在个性化医疗和虚拟或增强现实领域展现出光口应用前景。最后,苏州大学刘庄教授以“从实验室到临床:助推癌症免疫治疗的生物材料”为题,分享了其团队推动利用功能纳米生物材料高效对抗肿瘤的相关技术从基础研究走向临床应用的宝贵经验。


After the tea break, Prof. Yang Chai from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University introduced “Bioinspired in-sensor computing for artificial vision,” offering a new pathway for developing next-generation artificial intelligence vision systems with low power consumption and high efficiency. Prof. Bilu Liu from Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School reported on “2D material homologous metal heteromaterials with chemically bonded metallic interface for stable high-current-density electrocatalysis,” presenting a series of novel catalyst design strategies to meet the challenges of efficient water electrolysis for hydrogen production under harsh industrial conditions. In the report “Skin interfaced electronics for healthcare and VR/AR” by Prof. Xinge Yu from City University of Hong Kong, he presented various flexible electronics that can be comfortably integrated with human skin, showing promising application prospects in personalized healthcare and virtual or augmented reality fields. Lastly, Prof. Zhuang Liu from Soochow University, with his talk titled “Biomaterials to boost cancer immunotherapy, from bench to bedside,” shared his team’s valuable experience in advancing technologies that utilize functional nanobiomaterials to efficiently combat tumors from basic research to clinical application.

全部学术报告结束后,大会在热烈的氛围中正式闭幕。

本次研讨会不仅是MILES成立一周年庆典,更是全球学者的高效交流平台。会议期间大家深入交流,讨论活跃。同时,茶歇、午餐、集体合影以及海报展示环节,为与会的专家学者、青年学生提供了进一步探讨、激发合作火花的宝贵机会。首届MILES研讨会的成功举办,标志着MILES在科学研究的征程上更进一步,必将为未来的科技创新与产业应用注入强劲动力。


This symposium was not only a celebration of MILES’s first anniversary, but also a “celebration of science.” During the conference, participants engaged in in-depth discussions and active conversations. Meanwhile, the tea breaks, lunch, group photo session, and poster presentations provided valuable opportunities for attending experts, scholars, and young students to further discuss and spark collaborative ideas. The successful hosting of the first MILES symposium marks another step forward for MILES in its scientific research journey, and MILES is bound to inject strong momentum into future technological innovation and industrial application.
